Against Germany and Czech Republic

Scotland 0 Germany 6
On Easter Sunday, Scotland Emerging Girls lost to a very strong German team. Andrea's report: "Our girls put up a spirited performance and were only 2-0 down at half time. In the end Germany's continued pressure and superior finishing took its toll and the girls succumbed losing two late goals in the final quarter which made the score seem slightly harsh for the effort Scotland had put in. Morven and the other goalkeeper conceded three goals each.

Scotland 3 Czech Republic 4
On Easter Monday, the fourth and final day of the tournament, the final places were decided. Germany faced The Netherlands for the trophy, and Scotland played Czech Republic for the Bronze medals. In their first encounter on Friday, Scotland had defeated their hosts with the only goal of the game so they were hopeful of coming out on top again. Andrea's report "Scotland started slowly whilst the Czechs came out fighting and had built a 2-1 lead by half-time. Scotland rallied in the 3rd quarter and played their best hockey of the tournament to get themselves ahead 3-2 going into the final quarter. Some questionable umpiring then led to the award of a penalty corner from which the Czechs equalised and they went on to grab the winner late in the game. The Scotland girls were so disappointed to lose the game. "

The Netherlands won the tournament in the closing seconds of the Final against Germany, with a drag flick corner goal.

Although Scotland only won 1 match in the tournament there were a lot of positives for Morven and Scotland as a result of playing against the two strongest teams in Europe, and playing their best hockey in the two close matches vs Czech Republic. Gordonians H.C. is extremely proud of you, Morven, and we look forward to seeing you play more international hockey in the years to come.
